David Hasty
“What began as a childhood fascination has become one of my greatest passions.”
This week’s member spotlight features David Hasty, a self-taught photographer, having learned through trial and error in the early years of his craft by shooting on 35mm film and medium format film cameras. David attributes his early interest in photography to the US National Park system, noting that the photographic opportunities within the parks are boundless, with Park locations lending themselves well to his sense of curiosity and adventure. “Photography became my tool to document places I have experienced.”
David has now transitioned to using digital cameras, which has helped in the evolution of his personal style, which he describes as eclectic. David’s artwork encompasses a variety of subjects, including portraits, natural abstracts and landscapes. “My chosen medium is a great form of self-expression that has brought me countless opportunities that I never would have imagined possible.” An avid gardener, David clearly has a love for the natural world.
Davis has been a resident artist in St. Louis area galleries, worked as a staff photographer for area magazines, and has been juried into numerous gallery exhibits and art festivals - including the Webster Arts Fair. He is also generous to share his artwork for fundraising and charitable causes.
David’s work is currently part of the Beyond the Lens XIX exhibit at Framations in St. Charles, MO through April 12, 2025.
